Do you struggle with not eating the Halloween candy that you bought to hand out? Or even worse the huge amount that your child has brought home from their trick or treating fun? Here are some tips to help you survive Halloween and not give into to the junk food cravings.
1. Hand out alternatives to food. This is simple just get erasers, pencils, toothpaste, floss, notepads or any other little fun toys you can find at a dollar store.
2. Buy yourself a dark chocolate bar. Put it in the fridge and treat yourself to only one square.
3. On Halloween, if you really need to partake in the Halloween candy, pick your 3 favourite candies and have them that night only.
4. See if there is a dentist in your area that trades kids candy for money - yes these dentists do exist.
5. Remember your goals. What is going to feel better longer the chocolate or fitting into your clothes?
Don't forget about the Teal Pumpkin Project. This is a great way to move away from handing out candy and participating in making Halloween inclusive for all children.
